Some Newcastle United fans on social media have been reacting after they were linked with a move for Stoke City striker Tyrese Campbell.
Campbell may not be a big name like Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe, but at least he is a realistic target for the Magpies.
Yes, the Tyneside outfit are now one of the richest clubs in the world, but let’s not forget where they are right now. They’re 19th in the Premier League and that may mean that they can’t go out and sign superstars straight away.
Campbell is a very realistic signing, and in the eyes of some Newcastle supporters, he’d be a brilliant signing.
The forward is only 21 years old and he’s already showing a lot of promise at Stoke.
Campbell was flying last season before he was struck down by an injury, he netted six goals in 16 Championship appearances for the Potters, and while those numbers aren’t exactly Aleksandar Mitrovic-esque, to be scoring at that rate as a 20-year-old, you have to have something about you.
Factor in that he’s also the son of Kevin Campbell and it has to be said that this lad has plenty of potential.
Here’s what Newcastle fans have been saying about these links on social media…
