Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on social media have been reacting after it was reported that they could get Aymeric Laporte in a part-exchange deal for Harry Kane.
It’s no secret that Kane could be leaving Tottenham this summer, but if he is to go it’s going to cost whichever club is looking to buy him a pretty penny.
Manchester City are one such interested club, and they’re reportedly ready to offer Spurs a player plus cash deal for their star striker.
A number of names have been touted as potential makeweights in this deal, but the one that has gotten Spurs fans talking is Aymeric Laporte.
Indeed, Tottenham fans are very excited about the idea of the Spain international coming to north London, and we can absolutely understand why.
Laporte was one of the best centre-halves in the Premier League a couple of years ago, and while injuries have hampered his development at Manchester City, he’s undoubtedly still a quality player.
One fan even went as far as to say he’d finally be a competent replacement for Ledley King, and while we feel that’s a tad disrespectful to Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, the reality is that Laporte would be one of Spurs’ best defenders since King if he did join.
