The transfer window can be a tricky and unpredictable time for football clubs and their fans.
One minute a player looks on the verge of joining your team, the next minute they’re signing for a rival club. It can be frustrating and disheartening, especially when it’s a player that your club has been chasing for ages.
For Tottenham fans, Pedro Porro has been a player that has been linked with a move to the club for a long time now. However, there have always been concerns that Chelsea could hijack the deal.
Indeed, Ben Jacobs warned Spurs earlier this week that their move for the ‘very talented’ wing-back could be hijacked if Chelsea didn’t manage to agree a deal to sign Malo Gusto.

However, Chelsea have now reportedly agreed to sign Malo Gusto, and this should clear the final hurdle for Spurs to sign Porro.
Gusto is a young and exciting defender who has been making waves in the French league.. This is a significant move for Chelsea and it shows that they’re looking to build for the future. However, it also means that they’re less likely to hijack the deal for Porro.
Chelsea already have a strong squad and they’re not in desperate need of another right wing-back after an injury to Reece James, but they certainly don’t need to add two players in that position, not in the same transfer window.
Chelsea’s move for Gusto should pave the way for Tottenham to finally sign Pedro Porro. Spurs should now have a clear run at the player, and while Manchester City do still have the option of activating their buy-back clause for the player, but they have shown little interest in doing that.
Tottenham should finally be able to complete a deal to bring Porro to north London now that Chelsea have found an alternative in that position.
