Stan Collymore has suggested on Twitter that Leeds United and Aston Villa can finish in the European places this season.

The former Villa striker believes that West Ham United, Everton, Southampton and Leicester City can also end up in the European places.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher praised Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for his performance against Southampton at the weekend.

Carragher said on Sky Sports Premier League (10:12pm, January 30, 2021): “We can talk about the Southampton chances, but for me, it’s about the goalkeeper. I think he is one of the signings of the season really. I just feel like Villa are almost a different team this season.”

Could Leeds United and Aston Villa get into Europe?

Villa are having a wonderful season and are flying high in the Premier League table.

Dean Smith’s side, who narrowly avoided relegation at the end of the season, are ninth in the league table at the moment with 32 points from 19 matches.

The Villans are only seven points behind fourth-placed Leicester City, who have played 21 games.

There is a very good chance that Villa could finish in the European places, but it could be tricky for Leeds.

The Whites have not been very consistent, and although they are playing well and are very entertaining, without putting a run of positive results, they will not get into Europe.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are 12th in the Premier League table at the moment with 29 points from 20 games.
