The Leeds United star has previously played alongside Filip Helander.
According to Goal.com, Leeds United are interested in signing Bologna defender Filip Helander, who played with Pontus Jansson at Malmo.
The 24-year-old centre-back denied any knowledge of a transfer to Elland Road, but if his comments in 2015 are anything to go by then Jansson’s presence might make him consider it.
Helander has previously labelled the Leeds centre-back a “great player” and a “friend” of his.

Asked by Sydvenskan in March 2015 whether it was odd to be competing with Malmo team-mates Jansson and Erik Johansson for Sweden, he said: “It’s no different from Malmo. There are two great players and friends of mine. I’m used to the situation.”
Of course, being friends is not enough of a factor to make him quit top-flight football in Italy and jump on a plane to Yorkshire.
But he can’t have ignored how well former Torino man Jansson – who has the same agent as Helander – has got on since swapping Serie A for the Championship.
The towering centre-half is adored by Leeds fans as a result of his no-nonsense displays last season and the prospect of earning a similar status among the Whites faithful would surely appeal to Helander.
They definitely need another centre-back to replace Kyle Bartley, who returned to parent club Swansea City in the Premier League and will not be returning in all probability, but time will tell whether it is Jansson’s old mate.
