Speaking to The Scottish Sun, Filip Benkovic has praised the ‘unbelievable’ Celtic fans and says that he will never forget his stint at Parkhead.
Benkovic has established himself as a major fans’ favourite at Celtic after joining Brendan Rodgers’s side on a season-long loan from Leicester City.
The 21-year-old moved to Glasgow just weeks after securing a £13 million move [Sky Sports] to the former Premier League champions.
Supporters would love to see him in stay in Glasgow for the long term and quite a few Hoops fans admitted as much last month.
He told The Scottish Sun: “I have followed what the fans have been saying a little bit and it makes me happy. The Celtic supporters are unbelievable.
“Everybody asks me about Celtic in Croatia and I say to them, ‘I can’t describe what it’s like — you have to experience it’. I’ll take this experience with me for the rest of my life.”
The Croat is likely to start in Celtic’s League Cup final with Aberdeen at Hampden today, and another towering performance will only increase the desire to see him stay beyond the end of his loan agreement.
Leicester boss Claude Puel has already confirmed that he won’t be recalled in January, which is a big boost considering the Foxes’ had that option.
The former Dinamo Zagreb stalwart has started 11 games in all competitions for Rodgers’s side this season.
