Alan Shearer has said on Match of the Day on BBC One (10:42pm, August 28, 2021) that Manchester City star Ferran Torres was too much for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to handle.
What’s the story?
City eased past Arsenal 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League yesterday.
The Gunners played most of the game with 10 men after midfielder Granit Xhaka was sent off for a reckless challenge in the first half.
Torres scored twice for the Premier League champions, first in the 12th minute and then on 84 minutes.
The 21-year-old Spain international also provided an assist.
Torres is actually a winger, but he has been playing as a striker under Guardiola, like he did against Arsenal and did his job extremely well.

What Alan Shearer thinks
Newcastle United legend and MOTD pundit Shearer was hugely impressed by Torres and has raved about him.
Shearer said on Match of the Day on BBC One (10:42pm, August 28, 2021): “I thought (Torres) was excellent. He gave them a torrid time, the back-five, the three centre-halves. They just couldn’t cope with him.”

Big player for Manchester City
Torres is still only 21, but the Spain international is already turning out to be a massive player for City.
The youngster has scored two goals and given one assist in three Premier League appearances for City so far this season.
Torres scored seven goals and gave two assists in 15 league starts for the Citizens last season.
