Graham Potter has claimed Leeds United fans were ‘ferocious’ at times as they helped their team claw a 1-1 draw against Brighton on Sunday.

The Brighton boss added that it was a ‘tough’ and ‘intense’ atmosphere inside Elland Road yesterday, as Leeds battle relegation.

When Jesse Marsch’s side were heading into the final few minutes, many would have been fearing the worst for the Yorkshire side.

But the Leeds faithful kept with their side, as Pascal Struijk scored a very crucial goal right at the death.

As things stand, Leeds are out of the danger zone, although, Burnley do have a game in hand.

Nonetheless, after the game, Potter was full of praise for the Leeds United fans, as he told BBC Sport.

“It was a tough game and a tough, intense atmosphere,” said Potter. “The opponent are fighting for their lives and we competed really well.

“In the first half, we were really, really strong. We needed the second goal to kill it off but at 1-0 they are alive and the crowd played their part.

“In the end, I can’t say it isn’t a fair result. A good point and we move forward. We were the better team.

“But you can see, with a free-kick or mistake you have to defend your box and with the crowd, it id ferocious at times. I thought the boys dealt with it well.”

LEEDS UNITED SET FOR FINAL DAY DRAMA AHEAD OF RELEGATION SCRAP

As things stand, if Leeds beat Brentford on the final day of the Premier League season, then they will survive.

But, only if Burnley lose against Aston Villa on Thursday night.

Everton are also still in the relegation scrap because if they beat Crystal Palace on the same day, then they are safe.

But, either way, this fight to remain in England’s top flight will go down to the final day of the season.

It’s just a case of will it be in Burnley’s hands? Or Leeds United’s?
