Fernando Torres has taken to Twitter to post an emotional message on a historic day for Liverpool, as they bid farewell to Melwood.
The Premier League champions will be waving goodbye to their training ground, which has housed their players for over 70 years.
Torres, who spent his day-to-day life at the centre from 2007 to 2011, wrote: ‘Many stories and memories will stay within the walls of #Melwood YNWA @LFC #FarewellMelwood‘
The Spanish striker netted 81 goals in 142 appearances for the Reds following his move from Atletico Madrid.
He is undoubtedly one of the greatest players to use the facilities at Melwood, and he’s clearly feeling emotional about the club’s move away from the site.

Liverpool’s official website states that it was Bill Shankly who transformed Melwood into a top-class facility, as players would change for training at Anfield before then travelling to Melwood.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will be moving to the world-class AXA Training Centre in Kirkby, which boasts truly state-of-the-art facilities for their players and staff to use as Liverpool’s official site shows.

It is a perfect environment for a set of players who have dominated across Europe and domestically in recent years, and even the world having secured the Club World Cup title.
It is sad to see Melwood go, but we’re sure Liverpool will bring plenty more titles and also plenty more world-class players to the AXA Training Centre.
