Fernando Llorente could be Tottenham Hotspur’s third-choice striker next season if he stays.

There seems to be a bit of confusion surrounding Fernando Llorente’s future at Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham have missed the deadline to extend the Spaniard’s contract in North London, prompting suggestions that he’d be leaving after the Champions League final.
But Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that chairman Daniel Levy could change his mind and keep him at Spurs for another season by giving him a new deal.
Even if that happens, Llorente needs to pack his bags and look elsewhere this summer.
Yes, the Spaniard has proven himself a bit of an asset in the absence of Harry Kane in recent months, scoring some big goals.
But bigger picture, the 34-year-old, who has only managed 11 goals in 65 appearances for the Lilywhites, hasn’t been a roaring success since joining for £12 million in 2017 [Sky Sports].
Furthermore, it’s likely that Levy and Mauricio Pochettino – if the Argentine stays – will sign a better striker to rival Harry Kane this summer, meaning that Llorente could be third choice.
He will be 35 next February and for a striker in the twilight of his career, he will want to play as regularly as possible, but if he stays at Spurs then it could be worst season yet next term.
