With Swansea City’s striking options limited in pre-season, new man Tammy Abraham must hit the ground running.
Tammy Abraham completed a protracted loan move to Swansea City on Tuesday after weeks of speculation regarding the Chelsea forward’s future.
The Telegraph had believed Abraham would join Newcastle United, but Swansea have swooped in to sign their man following England’s run to the semi-finals of the U21 European Championships.
The 19-year-old, who first signed a new contract at Chelsea, excelled in the Championship last year for Bristol City, scoring 23 times in the league.
However, the Premier League represents a big step up and there is pressure on Abraham from day one due to an injury to fellow striker Fernando Llorente.
Swansea confirmed last week that Llorente suffered a freak off-season broken arm and he is now facing a race against time to be fit for their league opener against Southampton.
Abraham’s international endeavours mean he will be eased into pre-season, but, with record signing Borja Baston also absent after a temporary move to Malaga, the loan man is likely to lead the line for Swansea heading into the new campaign.
Paul Clement’s men only just staved off relegation last term and need to make a good start to the coming season, meaning Abraham must hit the ground running.
