Fernando Llorente comments on Tottenham fans after debut

Fernando Llorente joined Tottenham Hotspur from Swansea City in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur summer signing Fernando Llorente has told the club’s official website that he was happy to have made his debut for the team.

Llorente featured for Tottenham in their Champions League Group H game against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening.

The 32-year-old striker did not start the match at the Wembley Stadium in London, but the Spain international came on as a substitute in the 87th minute.

It was the former Juventus star’s debut for Tottenham, having joined the North London club from Premier League rivals Swansea City in the summer transfer window.

The former Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla striker has said that he is happy to have played his first game for Tottenham, and has also praised the club’s fans.

“I’m very happy to play today, my first minutes felt good,” Llorente told Tottenham’s official website. “The atmosphere, with our supporters, was fantastic.

“We need them to play better and I’m very happy to play in this amazing stadium in front of them. Now I have to continue to work and wait for my opportunity to help the team.”

Harry Kane is the first-choice striker at Tottenham at the moment, and Llorente will have to get used to playing second fiddle.

There will be games in which the former Swansea star will start for Spurs, but it is hard to see him dislodge Kane as the number one striker in Mauricio Pochettino’s team this season.
