Llorente finally came into the Spurs side following Harry Kane’s ankle injury.

Fernando Llorente has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that he is desperate to take his chance in the first team following Harry Kane’s injury, and give Mauricio Pochettino a selection headache.
Llorente, 33, has scored six goals in 18 league and cup appearances for Spurs, and has started to gain some momentum after being thrusted into the Tottenham side as Kane’s replacement – with the England skipper still sidelined.
The 2010 World Cup winner scored in the Carabao Cup semi-final, before heading home the crucial winner to beat Watford 2-1 at Wembley. He also laid on an assist for Son Heung-min to score late against Newcastle, winning 1-0.
His improved form will give Pochettino plenty to ponder, and Llorente is desperate to continue scoring goals for the north Londoners and help his side – after struggling for any form of game time last term.
“My mindset now is to be very focused, to give my best,” Llorente said. “I was waiting for an opportunity to come into the team and play more frequently and now I feel like it’s the moment to show all my strength.
“Hopefully I can score a lot of goals and help the team because, like I’ve said before, I think it will be a very important moment to do that.”

Former Juventus and Athletic Bilbao striker Llorente also has another reason to impress, as his £75,000-a-week contract (Spotrac) is set to expire at the end of the season.
Indeed, Llorente was expected to leave the club at the end of the season, but Kane’s injury and his involvement over the last month could now see the Spain international earn a new deal.
The Spaniard is expected to start for Spurs on Sunday, as the north Londoners host Leicester City in the Premier League.
