Sheffield Wednesday forward offers positive update.

Sheffield Wednesday attacker Fernando Forestieri has given fans a positive update into how his fitness is progressing.

The Italian posted on Twitter yesterday evening to communicate that he has had his first day back in the gym.

Forestieri, 27, has been out of action since mid-August and has played just 99 minutes of first team football in 2017/18.

The Sheffield Star reported in early September that he required an operation on a knee injury and would miss a minimum of three months of action.

It is still too early to project a return date for the forward, but his return to the gym is a step in the right direction.

The Owls have had a mixed run of form without Forestieri, with a loss to rivals Sheffield United a low point.

A recent win over Leeds United has lifted spirits and while 12th position does not sound good, they are just four points off a play-off spot.

If they can stay in touch until Forestieri’s return then they will continue to stand a strong chance of making another push at promotion and perhaps finally ending the season on a historically successful note.
