Former Rangers star Barry Ferguson seems to rate Ibrox defender James Tavernier very highly.
The former Rangers midfielder, who had two separate spells at Ibrox, seems to rate the ex-Newcastle United defender very highly, and the fans of the Gers will be pleased and proud of the claim.
Ferguson wrote in The Daily Record: “A couple of weeks ago I picked out James Tavernier for a word of praise because his attitude and performances have been so impressive.
“I would argue with anybody there is not a better right-back in the country at the moment.”
Bold claim?
Tavernier is one of the best players in the current Rangers squad, and the performances of the former Newcastle right-back in recent weeks have been superb.
The former Leeds United prospect has gone from strength to strength at Rangers since his move to the Ibrox club from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £200,000 and when Mark Warburton was the Gers manager.
The right-back signed a new contract with Rangers last month, committing his future to the Glasgow giants until the summer of 2021.
For Rangers to finish second and challenge for the Scottish Premiership title this season, Tavernier has to be on top of his game in the final weeks and months of the campaign.
