Barry Ferguson has intimated that Rangers star Ianis Hagi doesn’t understand the magnitude of what’s at stake this season.

The Gers were held to a goalless draw away at Livingston last weekend as Steven Gerrard’s side failed to make it three wins from a possible three.

With Celtic not playing, it was also a chance for Rangers to pull further away from Neil Lennon’s side.

The Hoops are going for 10 Premiership titles in a row, a feat that Gerrard can’t let happen.

And Ferguson has told The Record that Hagi’s performance – and Morelos’s – is a sign to him that Gerrard’s summer signing hasn’t grasped the importance of this season just yet.

Ferguson said: “He certainly wasn’t get it from the likes of Alfredo Morelos or Ianis Hagi neither of whom looked like they understood the urgency of the situation Rangers found themselves in and the importance of turning one point into three.

“I like Morelos – I’ve stood up for him on many occasions – but I wasn’t happy with what I saw him at Livingston.”

Hagi, a £3 million signing, is a brilliant player, as he proved during his half-season loan at Rangers last term, and he’ll win more points than he costs Gerrard this season.

But Ferguson is right. No matter how good the light Blues are in terms of first XI, there’s always going to be afternoons like that one in which the opposition make it so difficult for Gerrard’s side and it’s down to the big players like Hagi to make it work.
