Rio Ferdinand has said on his YouTube channel that he wanted Manchester United to sign Thomas Partey before the defensive midfielder joined Arsenal.

The former Manchester United defender has praised Arsenal defensive midfielder Partey for his performance this season.

The pundit has said that he rates the defensive midfielder the Gunners paid £45 million for (Sky Sports) highly.

Ferdinand has added that before Partey moved to Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2020, he wanted his former club Manchester United to bring the 29-year-old to Old Trafford.

Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand on Arsenal ace Thomas Partey

Ferdinand said: “I rate Partey. I mean, if you go back to some of the clips that we have had here, I have done clips here before he went to Arsenal even where I was saying Man United should sign Partey.

“I genuinely believe he is a top player. When you keep mentioning Casemiro and him, I just don’t think it’s fair on him. It’s not.”

HITC Verdict: Thomas Partey one of the best players in the Premier League

In our view, Thomas Partey is one of the best players in the Premier League and has been superb for Arsenal so far this season.

The 29-year-old has been brilliant in the middle of the park and has shielded the back-four well.

The former Atletico star has been fit this season, and that has helped him play his natural game without having to stop and start.

Arsenal are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment.

One of the big reasons behind the Gunners’ success this campaign is the form and performances of Partey.
