The Manchester United legend played under Moyes during his short tenure at Old Trafford.
BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand believes Moyes is a good fit at Sunderland
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has said during BT Sport’s Score programme on Saturday afternoon that his former manager David Moyes is a good fit at Sunderland.
The Black Cats opened their Premier League campaign against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, with new manager Moyes set to face his first competitive match in charge of his new club.
Moyes has had a disappointing last few years as a manager, with an unsuccessful spell at Real Sociedad following his ill-fated time at Old Trafford, where he failed to see out the season.

But when asked whether he thought Moyes was a natural fit at the Stadium of Light, Ferdinand replied: “Yeah I think it is. Listen, David Moyes is a hardworking manager, he’s got huge desires to achieve things.
“In the last couple of places he’s been he hasn’t been as as successful as he would have liked [compared] with what he produced at Everton, he was successful which is why he got the opportunity at Manchester United.

“I think it is a good fit. It’s a place where there hasn’t been much in terms of solidarity or continuation of managers. He’ll want to recreate that and put that right.”
Moyes is following in the footsteps of the New England manager Sam Allardyce, who was appointed to replace Roy Hodgson after the national side’s terrible performance at Euro 2016.

He has already been busy in the transfer market, raiding former club Manchester United for three players, with Paddy McNair and Donald Love arriving permanently and Adnan Januzaj joining on loan.
