Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo will be looking at a team like Liverpool and thinking they are ‘jumping even further away from us’ after signing Darwin Nunez, whilst he will also feel someone like Arsenal are ‘making moves’.
This comes after Ronaldo has expressed a desire to leave Manchester United this summer because he wants to play Champions League football and he doesn’t feel the club are doing enough talking in the transfer market to move forward.
Apart from Chelsea, who recently had new ownership, all the other teams in Europe have concluded big-name and big-money deals this summer.

Arsenal’s standout was perhaps signing Jesus from Manchester City, the champions themselves have brought in Erling Haaland, whilst Liverpool secured a club-record deal for Darwin Nunez.
Watching all those teams around Manchester United either pull away further or improve on what they have is something that is seemingly not sitting well with Ronaldo, according to Ferdinand.
“He’ll be sitting there, on his sun lounger, on his yacht, on his jet, wherever he is in the world,” said Ferdinand. “Seeing Manchester City signing Haaland. Seeing Liverpool signing Nunez, among other players. Phillips has just gone to Manchester City as well.
“He would be thinking ‘we had work catching these guys, anyway, before these big signings come into these football clubs and now they are jumping even further away from us’.
“Arsenal are making moves. He’s sitting there thinking ‘when is my team going to start making moves’. We all know we need some new faces in that building. And he ain’t seen no moves.”

THE RACE FOR EUROPE
Many teams are keen on those European spots, especially trying to get into the Champions League, which Manchester United fell out of last season.
Arsenal failed to secure a top-four finish last term as well, but with Fabio Vieira, Jesus, as well as a few more hopefuls coming in, they are hoping to put that right next season.
Then there are those teams outside of the European places, like Newcastle, who are starting to invest heavily in their squad.
Newcastle’s aim won’t be to get to Europe next season, and they might not even secure a top-seven finish, but one thing is for sure, they are surging forward at a serious pace and they mean business.
