Felix Wiedwald says he was nervous against Bolton Wanderers

Felix Wiedwald made his competitive debut for Leeds United against Bolton Wanderers in the Championship earlier this month.

Leeds United goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald has admitted to The Yorkshire Evening Post that he was a little bit nervous on his debut for the club.

Wiedwald joined Championship club Leeds from Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen in the summer transfer window.

According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, the Whites had to pay Bremen a transfer fee of around £500,000 in order to secure the services of the 27-year-old goalkeeper.

The former Germany Under-20 international custodian made his competitive debut for Leeds against Bolton Wanderers away from home at the Macron Stadium earlier this month.

Although the West Yorkshire outfit picked up all three points from the Championship encounter, Wiedwald conceded two goals.

The 27-year-old German then featured in the 4-1 victory over Port Vale at Elland Road in the first round of the EFL Cup.

Since then, Leeds have played out goalless draws with Preston North End and Fulham at home in the Championship.

Wiedwald has admitted that he was nervous in his first game for Leeds, but the former Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper is pleased to have kept two successive clean sheets.

“In the first game I was a little bit nervous, a new team, a new country,” Wiedwald told The Yorkshire Evening Post about settling in at Leeds. “But now I have kept clean two sheets in a row which is what everybody needs and expects.”
