Felix Wiedwald has joined Leeds United from Werder Bremen in the summer transfer window.

Felix Wiedwald has only just joined Leeds United, but the goalkeeper already seems to get the club and what they are about.

According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds paid German club Werder Bremen a transfer fee of £500,000 in order to secure the services of Wiedwald in the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Championship club and will be aiming to become the team’s first-choice goalkeeper next season.

The former Germany Under-20 international may have just completed the switch from Bremen to Leeds, but it seems that he knows quite a lot about the Elland Road outfit.

“I’m very happy to be here, this is a huge club with so much history and tradition, it is amazing to have signed,” Wiedwald told Leeds’s official website.

“We have been in contact for a long time and now I am here, Leeds United is a sleeping giant, it is a club with great supporters and the stadium is nearly always full, it is great to finally be here.

“I think every player wants to come to England and achieve great things, I am looking forward to playing at Elland Road and hearing the fans sing ‘Marching on Together’.”

Wiedwald has arrived at Elland Road with a strong reputation, and one should not be surprised if he displaces Robert Green in the Leeds starting lineup next season.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt custodian featured in 25 Bundesliga appearances for Bremen last season, helping them to an eighth-placed finish in the league.

Leeds will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship next season.
