The Leeds United keeper has a lot to prove after a couple of errors already.

He has played less than 10 league games for Leeds United but already there’s a spotlight on Felix Wiedwald – but for the wrong reasons.
The German goalkeeper was questionable for one of Ipswich Town’s goals in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Mick McCarthy’s side.

That error was preceded by a few hairy moments in an otherwise decent performance in the 1-0 defeat at Millwall the previous week, but Wiedwald, a £500,000 signing from Werder Bremen in the summer, was also criticised for a costly mistake in the 3-2 win at Bolton on the first day of the season.
So far, it’s safe to say that he does not inspire the utmost confidence and head coach Thomas Christiansen might be tempted to replace him with Andy Lonergan for the trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday if he puts a foot wrong in tonight’s trip to Cardiff City.

Lonergan, 33, was impressive in the League Cup win at Burnley last week and such an impressive second debut for Leeds – he spent the 2011-12 campaign at Elland Road – will make that decision a lot easier for Christiansen.
Wiedwald will probably retain his place for the trip to South Wales this evening, but it’s already the 27-year-old’s most important game for the Whites so far and the Spanish coach might struggle to justify another first XI selection at Hillsbrough unless he improves.
