Leeds United reportedly want Felipe Caicedo once again.

Felipe Caicedo of SS Lazio celebrate a second goal during the serie A match between SS Lazio and Benevento Calcio at Stadio Olimpico on March 31, 2018 in Rome, Italy.

Leeds United fans could be forgiven for feeling a sense of deja vu over their latest reported target.

Imperio Futbol in Ecuador has claimed that Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa remains a fan of Lazio striker Felipe Caicedo.

Thing is, Leeds were linked to the 30-year-old striker last summer, but wound up signing Patrick Bamford instead.

And will Bielsa go back for the Ecuador international? In all probability, no.

This is a player who turns 31 in September and 15 goals in his last 64 games for the Italian side isn’t exactly rip-roaring stats for a winger, let alone a centre-forward like Caicedo.

One of the things that Caicedo does have going for him is the fact that he’s an absolute nuisance for defenders by virtue of his physical power.

But there isn’t technical ability to supplement it, no silk to match the steel, and it’s difficult to know what Bielsa might see in him.

Yes, Leeds probably need another goalscorer this summer, given that Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford both spent lengthy periods on the sidelines last summer, but Caicedo almost certainly won’t be the answer.
