TMW are reporting this evening that Felipe Anderson is on the verge of leaving West Ham United for Lazio.

What’s the story?

Italian news outlet TMW are claiming that Anderson is ‘very close’ to joining Lazio.

West Ham have decided to let the attacker leave on a free.

However, the Hammers will have a 50% resale clause on the 28-year-old.

Disappointing West Ham spell

Anderson joined West Ham from Lazio in the summer of 2018.

BBC Sport reported at the time that the Hammers paid the Italian club £36 million in transfer fees.

Much was expected of the Brazilian winger when he joined the Hammers, but things have not gone according to plan.

The left-winger, who can also operate in a more central attacking role, scored nine goals and gave four assists in the Premier League in 2018-19.

Anderson scored one goal and gave four assists in the league in 2019-20.

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at Porto.

The attacker was able to make only one start and four substitute appearances in the league.

Anderson also played two minutes in the Premier League for West Ham last season before going out on loan to Porto.

An exit for the Brazilian makes sense, but West Ham simply letting him go without a fee is disappointing.
