Anderson has shone since joining West Ham from Lazio.
West Ham are reportedly after Inter Milan speed machine Antonio Candreva this month, with the winger failing to remain a regular part of his side’s starting eleven this season – and Felipe Anderson could prove key to a move.
According to the Daily Star, 31-year-old Candreva is on Manuel Pellegrini’s shortlist with Andriy Yarmolenko sidelined for some time and Marko Arnautovic continuing to prove somewhat of an injury risk.
Candreva has managed just four Serie A starts all season, clocking up 13 appearances in all competitions. He has scored once for Luciano Spalletti’s side, during a 3-0 win over Bologna.
Though he is now well into his thirties, the 54-time Italy international boasts plenty of calibre and has played with the best. He would certainly excite the London Stadium terraces with his explosive speed and skill.
Signing him would be a top bit of business from the Hammers hierarchy, and they may have to call on another of their newest signings – Felipe Anderson.
Brazil international Anderson has starred for the Hammers since completing a £40million move to the London Stadium this season, scoring eight goals from out wide in 24 league and cup appearances.
Anderson played alongside Candreva at Lazio for three years between 2013 and 2016. The Italian scored 45 goals and created 45 more in the four years he spent with the Sky Blue side – while Anderson also shone.
The duo formed two thirds of an exciting front three that terrorised Italian defences for three years in the top flight, and Anderson may be able to persuade Candreva into reigniting that in east London.
If the Hammers are keen on signing Candreva, then they must use Anderson as a persuasive chip.
