Real Betis midfielder Nabil Fekir has told The Times that he is disappointed that he could not join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Fekir has said that he met Liverpool manager Klopp and spoke to the German about a potential move to the Premier League giants back in 2018.

The midfielder was then at Ligue 1 club Lyon.

However, the move never happened.

The 28-year-old France international, who can also operate as a forward, has opened up on his failed transfer to Liverpool.

Fekir told The Times: “Of course I was disappointed not to go to Liverpool, very disappointed because Liverpool are a great club.

“I met the coach, Jürgen Klopp, and it went well. After meeting him, I wanted to join Liverpool even more. He’s a good person.

“It was really difficult to deal with as I really wanted to go to Liverpool. It was a moment that was not easy for me.”

Future Liverpool transfer possible?

Fekir clearly likes Liverpool, and it is safe to say that he would jump at the chance to move to the Reds.

The France international is 28 now, and there is still time for him to get his chance to make the dream move to Liverpool.

Now, of course, the former Premier League and Champions League winners do not tend to sign players in their late 20s or early 30s, but you just never know what could happen in the future

Never say never.

Fakir scored seven goals and gave four assists in 31 La Liga starts for Betis in 2019-20.

The France international scored five goals and provided five assists in 33 league games for Betis last season.
