Speaking on his podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing Alexandre Lacazette and his recent resurgence at Arsenal.

The Frenchman has been playing brilliantly as of late. Yes, he’s not been scoring, but after grabbing two assists against Watford this weekend, he’s getting the credit he deserves.

Wright has claimed that Lacazette is vitally important to Arsenal, and he’s even floated the idea of giving the attacker a new contract at the Emirates.

What’s been said?

Wright spoke about Lacazette’s form.

“It’s interesting to see how they do that, because his position is vitally important to everything we’re doing. Look at the two assists he had. If we get that person you might think that we can give Laca another year or two years. I think Laca has to stay around, the man is feeling the vibe,” Wright said.

“Laca is having a second wave,” Wright’s co-host said.

“I think he is Flo, I think he is,” Wright concluded.

Stepped up

Lacazette has stepped up in recent weeks, and to be honest, the timing may not be coincidental.

Lacazette knows his contract is up for renewal, and if he plays well he’ll be in line for a greater pay-packet either at Arsenal or at another club.

Whether or not Arsenal give Lacazette a new contract remains to be seen, but if he can keep playing in the way he has in recent weeks, he could be a real asset for the Gunners for years to come.
