Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Mikel Arteta has given a positive update on Kieran Tierney’s fitness.
The Scottish defender has been out of action for a little while now following an ankle injury, but luckily for Arsenal, it sounds as though he’s close to a return to first-team action.
Indeed, Mikel Arteta has given a positive update on Tierney’s fitness.
What’s been said?
Arteta shared where Tierney is up to in terms of his recovery.
“Kieran has been training the last two days, he is feeling much better so hopefully he will be available,” Arteta.
“Let’s see in the next two training sessions how he’s feeling, he has done bits with the team but he’s not fully trained yet, so in the next two days we will see how he is and where his fitness is.”

Does he get back into the team?
If Tierney does return, does he get back into the team?
Mikel Arteta has admitted that he has a dilemma on his hands with Tierney and Nuno Tavares.
“Hopefully we can have more of those dilemmas, so we have top players performing at the top level in many positions because that only raises the quality, the standards and the performances of the team,” Arteta said.
Tavares has been brilliant since he’s come in and while Tierney is a fantastic player, it would be really harsh to drop the Portuguese ace at this point.
It will be interesting to see who Arteta chooses this weekend.
