Arsenal fans are delighted with Mikel Arteta’s suggestion that Pierre Emerick Aubameyang could be tried down the middle soon.
Aubameyang has generally been used from the left-flank throughout Arteta’s time in charge so far, and it seems to have limited his effectiveness this term.
While Aubameyang was a major threat last season, the Gabonese striker still only has one goal to his name so far this campaign.
With Alexandre Lacazette also struggling up top, many Arsenal fans have been calling for Arteta to use their main goalscorer in a more central role.
And it seems that Arteta is going to listen to their wish. He said to Football London: “Yes, that’s a very possible thing [playing Aubameyang up-front].
“It will depend on the games, it will depend on who he’s surrounded with. I think it’s very important to see who is around him and why we’re doing it.”
The comments have sparked delight among Arsenal fans, who are excited to see what Aubameyang could do if backed to lead the line.
Unfortunately for Arsenal fans they may have to wait just a little longer before they see Aubameyang deployed as a number nine.
The Gunners are in action tonight against Dundalk in the Europa League, but Aubameyang is expected to be rested.
Arsenal are next in Premier League action against Manchester United at the weekend, which is when Aubameyang may be backed to lead the line.
