Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted to Antonio Conte’s rumoured plans to change from a 3-4-3 formation to a 3-4-1-2 formation after the international break, as reported by Football London.
The only team that recently played such a formation in the Premier League was Aston Villa – and they seriously struggled.
Although, the quality of their team and squad is much different to Tottenham’s, not forgetting the man in the dugout.
Either way, Spurs fans are excited at the prospect of that change in formation, although they are feeling sorry for the wide players.
Some think the likes of Tanguy Ndombele could thrive in such a formation, whilst others think someone like Lucas Moura will struggle to get into the XI because of the possible change of formation.
If Conte does go for a three-man midfield, then it will allow that extra creative, forward-thinking and free-mind to play alongside a more robust and hard-hitting duo in Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
But who will step up and take that role by the scruff of the neck?
Some would argue three Spurs players that have struggled for a long time now – Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Dele Alli – now have the chance to showcase their worth.
It also means that the width will come from the likes of Sergio Reguilon and Emerson Royal – or whoever plays those wing-back roles.
It will probably mean that the wingers, Moura, Bryan Gil and Steven Bergwijn, will have to warm the bench because there is then little room for them to fit into that system.
Here is a selection of Spurs fans reacting to Conte’s rumoured plan.
