Newcastle United defenders Federico Fernandez and Jamaal Lascelles appear to have formed a big partnership.

Lascelles has been linked with a move away from Newcastle in recent transfer windows, with the centre-back’s performances impressing.
But Fernandez’s comments certainly make it seem like his defensive partner has no plans to leave St. James’ Park.
“The manager likes him, the players like him, and he will be important for us this season and beyond,” Fernandez revealingly said. “Maybe he can be important for England too.”

The Sun reported how West Ham United were keen on Lascelles, in a £30 million deal, over the summer.
Newcastle kept hold of Lascelles, but interest will surely mount, with Rafael Benitez’s side struggling.
Newcastle are without a victory this season, and already appear to be embroiled in a relegation fight.
Lascelles will feature for Newcastle at the weekend, when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion in their next match.
