The Argentine is currently in fine form at AS Roma.
The agent of Tottenham Hotspur’s loaned out defender Federico Fazio insists that no permanent deal for his client to head to AS Roma has yet to be finalised – despite rumours to the contrary.
Salva Sanchez told Gazetta Giallorossa today:
“No, I do not know if companies have already talked about this possibility.
“It is true Federico is proving to be a very important player for Roma, match after match.
“No (there have been no conversations) at least not with me. It’s the two companies that must decide. Now is not the time to talk about these things, there will be time.”
Roma’s Federico Fazio celebrates scoring their second goal
However, he confirmed Roma have the right to buy the player should that be their wish and that the player has no designs on heading anywhere else:
“I do not know, Roma have a right of redemption, and if they want to exercise it will do.
“No, no (more interest from elsewhere). Now we’re just focused on next month in Rome. It should feel comfortable and concentrated with his club.”
La Repubblica reported before Christmas in their print edition, as relayed by Football Italia, that the Argentine has triggered a permanent deal worth around €3.2 million (£2.7 million). It seems that no deal has yet been finalised, however, it would be a massive surprise if Fazio did not make the move to Rome permanent.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Federico Fazio
The 29-year-old has been in good form for the Giallorossi – in contrast to his time at Spurs – and has featured 22 times this season.
Spurs fans will not however want to see him return, despite his good form in the Italian capital.
Tottenham signed Fazio from Sevilla in a deal reported by Sky Sports to be in the region of £8 million in August 2014 but he never adapted to English football.
After a mediocre first season at the club Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer arrived and Fazio was no longer needed at the club.
So a move to Roma is clearly in the best interests of all parties.
