The Tottenham Hotspur owned defender is currently on loan at Roma.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Federico Fazio
Argentina romped to a 6-0 international win today against Singapore, in an international friendly that hardly taught anyone anything.
Goals from Joaquin Correa, Alejandro Gomez, Leandro Paredes, Lucas Alario and Angel Di Maria helped the Albiceleste to their win, however it was a Tottenham Hotspur owned player who got the ball rolling.
Federico Fazio scored the opening goal. You’d be quick to expect a booming header from the 195cm bull but it was actually a beautifully deft finish, polishing the ball into the far corner with the slightest of volleys from a corner.
The 30-year-old was playing just his fourth game for his country and this was his first goal. Tottenham fans will of course be flabbergasted by his current form.

Tottenham signed Fazio from Sevilla in a deal reported by Sky Sports to be in the region of £8 million in August 2014 but he never adapted to English football.
He played 32 times in his first season at Spurs. However, the following summer Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer arrived and Fazio was no longer needed at the club after struggling in English football.

Since joining Roma on loan however he has been a lynchpin for the Giallorossi, who are very hopeful of securing his permanent transfer this summer – with little objection from Spurs.
Fazio was seemingly not built for English football but his form recently indicates that he is still a very talented footballer, even if he was simply not right for Spurs.
