Norwich City could have cut the gap on sixth place to four points with a win against their Anglian rivals.

Norwich City striker Steven Naismith had failed to feature in any of the club’s previous five Championship fixtures, but was immediately restored to Alex Neil’s starting line up for Sunday’s East Anglian derby with Ipswich Town.

With Naismith restored, Canaries winger Alex Pritchard was forced to settle for a place on the bench, despite scoring two goals and creating as many in his previous three starts.

And the Scot did little to convince the Norwich faithful of his inclusion, with many baffled to see him last 76 minutes of the 1-1 draw, before he was replaced by Josh Murphy.

The result leaves Norwich six points behind next opponents Sheffield Wednesday, who currently occupy the final play-off place heading into the season’s final quarter.

And based on some of the following tweets, Canaries fans have all but given up hope of catching the Owls.

As well as Wednesday, Norwich, who are in their first campaign back at Championship level after last season’s relegation, still have to play all seven of the teams above them in the table, apart from Newcastle United.
