FC Porto defender Pepe has given his take on Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers, as quoted in A Bola.
Rangers played out a 1-1 draw with Porto away from home in Portugal in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Luis Diaz put the Portuguese giants in the lead in the 36th minute, and Alfredo Morelos restored parity on 44 minutes.
Pepe, who won the Champions League thrice with Real Madrid, has praised Rangers for their performance against his Porto team.
Pepe told A Bola: “We conceded a goal very close to half time and tried to react in the second half, but Rangers also have very good players and are very strong in the transition.”
Encouraging performance
Rangers were very good against Porto, and the result has enhanced their chances of progressing to the knockout round of the Europa League this season.
Over the course of the 90 minutes on Thursday evening, the Gers had 50% of the possession, took nine shots of which two were on target, and earned five corners, according to BBC Sport.
The Gers are second in Europa League Group G at the moment with four points from three matches, two points behind leaders Young Boys.
