Nottingham Forest owner needs to follow Newcastle owner’s lead, says former star.
Mike Ashley, model owner? Not quite, but the Newcastle United supremo has been held up as an example who Nottingham Forest’s Fawaz Al-Hasawi needs to follow.
The comparison was made by ex-Forest striker Stan Collymore, who met with Al-Hasawi yesterday to present his ‘blueprint’ to help the club move forward.

While it is still unclear whether Al-Hasawi will act on any of Collymore’s advice, the former striker says that the Forest owner needs to take a step back and delegate key responsibilities to experts.
Forest fans protested against Al-Hasawi at the weekend, a week after a proposed takeover collapsed.
Writing on his personal blog, Collymore said: “The bridges are destroyed but I pointed to Mike Ashley as proof that even at the 11th hour, stability, reason and good people with good intentions can win the day.
“I hope Fawaz listened, I believe he did, but it’s late in the day, action will speak louder than words.”

Newcastle fans have themselves vocally voiced their displeasure towards Mike Ashley in the past, with the club suffering two relegations under him.
The Toon appear to be back on track now, with Ashley taking a low key role behind the scenes. They are looking to win promotion back to the Premier League. For Forest, right now they simply want to avoid relegation to League One, currently sitting in 19th place.
