Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi has given an interview to BBC Radio Nottingham, defending the sale of Oliver Burke and discussing the future of the club.
Al-Hasawi came under fire for selling Burke for £13 million to Red Bull Leipzig, just 24 hours after manager Philippe Montanier said he was not going to be sold.
The only ‘replacements’ were a free agent winger and a loan striker, and fan frustration at Al-Hasawi appears like it is at an all time high, despite a relatively good start to the season for the team.

Al-Hasawi gave an update on the potential takeover of the club by Evangelos Marinakis, simply stating it was ‘in the hands of the FA’, and declining to elaborate on any specifics.
While the potential buyer may have his drawbacks too, supporters are keen to see change, but Al-Hasawi is not so eager to cut ties with the club just yet.
Speaking about his plans, Al-Hasawi said: “I don’t want to sell the club, I want to be part of success, we can do something this year or next.
“I want to know what their plan [potential buyers], what they do for Nottingham. May be I will not sell the whole club. May be I will stay with a small share.”

At present it appears no deal is close to being done, but if it does, Al-Hasawi’s mind is not made up – or he is simply playing games when it comes to negotiating.
Forest fans are unlikely to be happy to hear his comments that he wants to remain a part of the club even if he does cede control – unless like with Burke, he receives an offer he really can’t refuse.
