Al Hasawi never settled upon a manager at the City Ground, and his lack of forward planning was often criticised by supporters.
Forest made little progress under his stewardship, and Al Hasawi admits that he is shocked by how difficult getting promoted from the Championship proved.
“It was a good experience,” Al Hasawi said. “I learn many things here in this country. When I was in Kuwait I was in the good side, we were winning competitions all the time. Here we didn’t do well, so I was shocked. I thought it was going to be easy, but it was very difficult.”
Forest are still recovering from Al Hasawi’s time in charge, with Mark Warburton’s side firmly lodged in mid-table at the moment.
The Reds have shown glimpses of quality this season, but will have to improve significantly if they are to push towards the play off spaces.
Forest’s next match comes against Queens Park Rangers, and a victory could lift them into the top half of the table.
