The Telegraph suggest that American investors are interested in taking over Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi appears to have poured cold water on suggestions that he could sell the club to American owners in the near future.

Forest have been rumoured to be on the verge of a takeover for some time, but no deal has been agreed for the Midlands club.

Initially it was believed that Greek investors would take over, but the Telegraph suggested yesterday that there is interest from American businessmen.

However, Al-Hasawi was quick to respond and he told supporters of Forest to simply concentrate on matters on the field.

Al-Hasawi’s ownership of Forest has come under criticism, with fans of the Reds frustrated by a lack of investment.

However, Forest have made a reasonably encouraging start to the campaign – winning three of their first five matches.

Philippe Montanier’s side are currently in 12th place, and they take on Aston Villa later today at Villa Park.

If Forest are able to pick up the three points in the fixture, they could move all the way up to second place in the Championship table.
