Nottingham Forest sold Britt Assombalonga to Middlesbrough yesterday.
Former Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi has insisted that he had nothing to do with Britt Assombalonga’s sale to Middlesbrough.
Forest allowed Assombalonga to join Boro yesterday, with the forward departing the City Ground in a mega-money deal.
Some Forest fans have been understanding of the reasons behind Assombalonga’s sale, but others feel that it shows a lack of ambition.
And Al-Hasawi has posted on social media website Twitter to distance himself from the transfer.
Al-Hasawi was a controversial figure during his time at Forest, and hardly remains popular at the City Ground.
Forest will now have to work hard to replace the goals of Assombalonga over the upcoming campaign.
Assombalonga netted 14 times for the Reds last term, despite missing a sizeable chunk of the season with injury.
Forest have the likes of Zach Clough, Ben Brereton and Jason Cummings already in their squad – but are likely to buy another forward before the season starts.
