Should Glasgow Rangers try and push to sign popular striker Will Grigg?

Rangers are in need of a new striker this summer as they look to mount a title challenge next season.

One avenue they could look to re-consider is the prospect of signing Northern Ireland striker Will Grigg.

HITC reported last summer how Bookies SkyBet had Grigg priced at just 6/4 to sign for Rangers after a flurry of bets, but Wigan Athletic were able to hold onto their star man.

Now the Latics appear destined for a return to League One with relegation inevitable, and it will be a lot tougher for them to hold onto the popular star.

Grigg hit fame last summer when a catchy terrace chant brought his exploits to the forefront, but his goalscoring form made the hype justified.

This season he has found it more tough going, netting only seven goals with Wigan struggling in the division, winning only nine matches.

The 2015/16 season saw him score 24 goals, and this should speak more to Rangers, about what he can do for a side competing at the top of the table when his teammates can outmatch the rest of the division.

The way Grigg’s stock has fallen helps any transfer fee demanded for his signature become more reasonable, but it also makes it more questionable whether Rangers would still want him.
