It’s been a tough six months for former Leeds favourite John Sheridan.
John Sheridan may today glance at the Championship standings and see former club Leeds United and wonder ‘what if?’.
The former Ireland international was linked with taking over as Leeds boss in the summer shortly after Massimo Cellino decided not to renew Steve Evans’ contract.
With his links as a former player at Elland Road, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported how Sheridan was as short as 1/6 on favourite to land the role with the bookies.

While no ‘official approach’ was made between Leeds and Oldham, the Yorkshire Post reported that contact was made with Sheridan.
He would go on to fade from the running, with Karl Robinson and Darrell Clarke both also tipped as favourites before Garry Monk landed the role.
Leeds have been very successful under Monk so far and currently sit inside the play-off positions.
Sheridan’s career since has gone from bad to worse.

He quit Oldham soon after and took on a role at Notts County, swapping League One for League Two.
With Notts County sitting in 22nd place with 22 points from 24 games, Sheridan was fired yesterday, SkySports reported.
The last straw was a 4-0 defeat to Cambridge United, Leeds FA Cup opponents next week, their nine successive defeats.
With his career and Leeds’ trajectories moving in rapidly different directions, Sheridan’s one and only chance to manage the Whites may have passed him by this summer.
