The transfer window may have closed last Thursday, but Tottenham Hotspur seemingly already planning for future transfer windows after a scouting mission this week.

Spurs were busy on deadline day as they brought in right back Serge Aurier and striker Fernando Llorente from Paris Saint-German and Swansea City respectively, taking their summer intake to five signings.

Tottenham won’t stop eyeing up targets though, as the January transfer window will come around quickly, and scouts were dispatched this week to take in World Cup qualifiers.

LAOLA1 in Austria report that a Tottenham scout was at the Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna, to watch Austria’s 1-1 draw with Georgia – and finding a potential target was somewhat difficult.

Key players in the game like Julian Baumgartlinger, Guram Kashia and Valeri Qaziashvili don’t quite fit Tottenham’s transfer strategy, whilst they have no chance of luring Austria star David Alaba from Bayern Munich.

However, one name does stick out from the Austria side – Kevin Danso. The 18-year-old is far from a household name yet, and has made just seven first-team appearances for Bundesliga side Augsburg, but has been fast-tracked to the Austria first-team alongside Aleksandar Dragovic in the heart of defence.

Danso earned praise for his performances against both Wales and Georgia over the past week, catapulting himself into the limelight – and given Tottenham’s transfer policy, he appears to fit the bill, even after the signing of fellow young defender Juan Foyth.

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Danso has the physical traits that many look for in a defender, and he has already flashed the ability to grow into a top centre back, whilst his history in England could also appeal to Spurs.

Danso was formerly on the books with both Reading and Milton Keynes Dons, meaning he he is already used to life in England, and may not face a lengthy adjustment period like some incoming teenage defenders may face.

Tottenham may well have had their eye on somebody else, but given their desire to sign young players, the promising Danso sticks out as a player for Spurs to be keeping an eye on.
