Stan Collymore has urged Everton to appoint Sean Dyche as their next manager because he would bring ‘confidence’ and ‘discipline’ to the club, as he told CaughtOffside.

The former Premier League striker dismissed claims comparing Dyche’s style of play to Sam Allardyce’s and added that the former Burnley boss can put the ball down and play ‘quick football’.

Whilst Dyche’s name is doing the rounds to replace the recently-sacked Frank Lampard, in terms of style of play, it seems as though Farhad Moshiri is also looking at the other end of the playing scale.

Less than 12 months after being sacked by Leeds United, Marcelo Bielsa is seemingly Moshiri’s number-one target to take the reigns at Goodison Park.

The 67-year-old is known for his all-action and 100 miles-per-hour football, so could and will that suit this current lethargic, morale-sapped, fearful, confidence-drained and reactive Everton side?

Either way, it’s a different world from what Dyche, who is 16 years younger than Bielsa, would bring to the table, as Collymore wants the 51-year-old through the doors.

“In terms of who there is to replace him – Sean Dyche would be a very good and solid appointment. He’d bring back confidence and discipline,” said Collymore.

“I personally don’t buy into the consensus that Dyche is the heir to Sam Allardyce’s throne – he does like a big, strong frontman, but when his teams are at their best, they do actually get the ball down and play some nice, quick football.

“If he could come in and get a few players and add to the ones he already knows such as Dwight McNeil and James Tarkowski, then I certainly think they’ve got a better chance of turning it around than they do now. But in order to do that, the club has to act immediately.”

SAFE HANDS DYCHE

Whilst the Bielsa appointment would bring excitement to Goodison Park, you aren’t sure what the former Leeds boss will bring to the table midway through the season.

He has never taken over a team midway through a campaign and his style of play needs getting used to, so without pre-season, how will the Everton players react to what he wants?

That’s why someone like Dyche is a safe pair of hands and someone Everton should be pushing for all the way.
