Everton boss Silva has come under increasing pressure after another loss to Wolves on Saturday.
Jim White has claimed live on TalkSPORT that Everton owner Farhad Moshiri told him that Marco Silva will remain in the dugout at Goodison Park, and has faith in the Portuguese boss.
The pressure is beginning to mount on the former Watford and Hull City manager, after the Toffees lost a fourth Premier League match in their last six – suffering a 3-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Silva joined Everton in the summer with Moshiri and fans alike hoping he could take the club to the next level, after Sam Allardyce guided the Merseyside club to eighth in the Premier League table. They currently sit in ninth.
Sky Sports and TalkSPORT presenter White claims he spoke to Moshiri in central London on Monday evening, and read out quotes live on the radio station on Tuesday morning regarding Silva’s future at the club.
“‘Marco Silva is a talented coach,'” White quoted Moshiri as saying. “‘He is planning long term. He will coach and develop those young players, and every year, those same young players will become stronger.’
“In regards to Everton’s inconsistent form, Moshiri told me this: ‘In this business, you have to hold your nerve.'”
Silva was hired in the summer by Everton, with the Liverpool Echo claiming he is earning around £58,000 a week at Goodison. His contract expires until the summer of 2021.
Of their last 14 league and cup matches, Everton have won just four games. One of those wins was a narrow victory over League Two side Lincoln in the FA Cup, while defeats also include the FA Cup loss to Millwall.
Everton are next in action on Wednesday night as they play host to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in what will be a tough game for Silva’s men, with City winning nine of their last 10 games – beating Arsenal 3-1 last time out.
