Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Sun revealed a unique way in which Harry Kane could force a move to Manchester City.

What’s the story?

Well, the report claims that Kane could utilise the ‘Webster Ruling’ to get himself to the Etihad Stadium.

The little-known FIFA loophole, also known as Article 17, allows players who signed a contract under the age of 28 to buy themselves out of it.

However, they can only do so three or more years after putting pen to paper on that deal.

In Kane’s case, he is eligible to do this, should he choose to.

The 28-year-old signed his six-year contract back in June 2018, aged 24.

If the Tottenham No.10 did decide to do this, it would cost him at least £40m of his personal wealth, as that’s how much is left on his contract.

Would this make Harry Kane worse than Sol Campbell?

As some fans below have said, Kane activating the ‘Webster Ruling’ would be worse than anything Sol Campbell ever did.

In our view, it would be a terrible thing for Kane to do, but it wouldn’t be worse than Campbell’s astonishing behaviour.

To run down your contract and join your club’s biggest rivals on a free transfer – denying your old club a fee – is an absolutely terrible thing to do.

The fact that Campbell had lucrative offers from Barcelona, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich – as per the Guardian – makes his decision even worse.

Kane isn’t exactly the most popular man in N17 right now after refusing to return to training.

However, it would take a seismic amount of unprofessionalism to match what Campbell did.

For now, let’s see what the Tottenham fans on Twitter have been saying about Kane and Article 17…
