Tony Cascarino has suggested on talkSPORT (01/08/21 at 7:40 am) that Brighton owner, Tony Bloom, is ‘far ahead’ of Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy in the negotiating stakes.
Tottenham’s man in the boardroom is seen as probably being the most stubborn and toughest negotiator in the Premier League.
Perhaps that is being proven by this current situation with Harry Kane, who thought he had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ to leave Tottenham this summer and is now opting against turning up for training.
Well, former Republic of Ireland international, Cascarino, thinks there is someone who can better Levy in that department.
On the deal for White to go to Arsenal for £50m: “Brighton were never going to be easy to negotiate with,” said Cascarino.
“Tony Bloom, the owner, who is a well-known Poker player that made a hell of a living out of it, is a very smart man.
“People talk about Daniel Levy (being stubborn). I would have Tony Bloom up there as a chairman, far ahead of Levy, about negotiating because look at some of the deals he has done with Brighton.”
Well, whilst Bloom has brought through big money for White from Arsenal, will Levy follow suit with Kane?
It’s obvious that Spurs want to keep their star man, but will Levy bring out his softer side and allow his best player to leave this summer?
If he does then it would be short notice for Nuno Espirito Santo to add quality to a squad that needed rebuilding in the first place.
But it would be a surprise if Levy did anything other than what he desires and that’s keeping Kane in North London.
