Reported Everton and Arsenal target Gabriel Veron is among the ‘five most valued young players in the world’, according to his Palmeiras manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo in quotes reported by Fox Sports.

It is certainly an exciting time to be a fan of Brazilian football.

Those fallow, trophyless years came to an overdue end last summer as the rising talents of Gabriel Jesus, Richarlison and Everton Soares fired Tite’s team to Copa America glory on home soil.

And the future looks even brighter than the present, with Vinicius Jr, Reinier Jesus, Antony, Gabriel Martinelli and Rodrygo Goes sealing big-money moves to bona fide European giants long before celebrating their 20th birthdays.

It seems only a matter of time before Veron, a Brazilian winger named after an Argentine legend, follows in their flickering footsteps. Everton failed with a £12 million bid for the Arsenal-linked wonder-kid recently, although Palmeiras may be forced to cash in if an offer closer to £25 million arrives (Yahoo).

“Certainly, the market is keeping an eye on Gabriel. He is one of the five most valued young players in the world,” quips ex-Brazil and Real Madrid manager Luxembourgo.

“He has a quality that football needs today: speed with a change of direction. He can reach speeds of up to 35 km (22 miles per hour), which is a fantastic speed.”

Interestingly, both Everton and Arsenal appear to have an eye on the Brazilian marketplace these days.

Edu, The Gunners’ South American director, has an excellent relationship with super-agent Kia Joorabchian – a man with fingers in a lot of pies over in Brazil.

Everton, meanwhile, signed Bernard and Richarlson and have since been linked with plenty more members of the so-called Selecao.
