Some Aston Villa fans on social media are over the moon after it was reported that Manchester City won’t be activating their buy-back option on Douglas Luiz this summer.
Villa signed the Brazilian from Pep Guardiola’s side back in 2019, and ever since then there’ve been sporadic reports about him returning to the Etihad.
City hold an option to bring Luiz back to Manchester on a cut-price deal, but according to the Telegraph, Luiz won’t be returning to the Etihad this summer.
As you can imagine, Villa supporters had plenty to say about this news, and understandably, they were very happy to hear that they wouldn’t be losing the midfielder at the end of the season.
Luiz has the potential to be a top player in the Premier League, and while he hasn’t necessarily shown that on a weekly basis this season, he’s certainly a player Villa are better off having in their squad.
