‘Fantastic’: Sky pundit reacts to who Tottenham could replace sacked Nuno with

Michael Brown has stated that it’s ‘fantastic’ that Tottenham could possibly replace Nuno Espirito Santo with Antonio Conte, as he told the Football Show on Sky Sports (01/11/21 at 10:20 am).

On Monday morning, Spurs sacked Nuno after four months in charge following their 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday, as the club confirmed on Twitter.

It wasn’t the result that was worrying from Spurs, but the performances and the reaction from the home supporters during that weekend defeat.

There was no way Nuno was going to survive that and it now seems as though Conte could be the man to come in.

Sky Italy report that Conte will be in London today to hold talks with the Premier League club.

Given what Spurs put out in their statement, when they announced the sacking of Nuno, ex-midfielder Brown thinks it’s only a matter of time before a new face comes in.

“They have actually said in a statement that ‘there is further news to follow’ which tells you that it’s starting to add up,” said Brown.

“We have seen Daniel Levy react like this before, when he has had the replacement already in the bag. It seems like he has that.

“If it’s going to be Conte, then fantastic. Are the funds going to be available? We understand because of the debt the stadium has brought, the level of investment is going to be a little bit low than what he will expect.

“The likes of Conte can certainly attract better players than Spurs have already got.”

It would be some coup from Spurs if they managed to lure Conte towards their direction and a statement of intent from Daniel Levy.

Nuno might now be out of the door, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t pressure on Levy, Fabio Paratici and the rest of the Spurs boardroom.

Whilst Nuno and Harry Kane were booed against Manchester United over the weekend.

There were also chants of Spurs fans wanting Levy to leave because of how he has run the club in recent years and how they have stagnated since reaching the Champions League final.
